olympics humor

transparent version of :Image:Olympic flag.Image via Wikipedia Watching the olympics can be pretty hysterical, but the current announcers take it too seriuosly. I am waiting for the John Stewart edition. In the mean time, even the serious take is pretty hysterical.

1. Weightlifting commentator: "This is Gregoriava from Bulgaria. I saw her snatch this morning during her warm up and it was amazing."
2. Dressage commentator: "This is really a lovely horse and I speak from personal experience since I once mounted her mother."
3. Paul Hamm, Gymnast: "I owe a lot to my parents, especially my mother and father."
4. Boxing Analyst: "Sure there have been injuries, and even some deaths in boxing, but none of them really that serious."
5. Softball announcer: "If history repeats itself, I should think we can expect the same thing again."
6. Basketball analyst: "He dribbles a lot and the opposition doesn't like it. In fact you can see it all over their faces."
7. At the rowing medal ceremony: "Ah, isn't that nice, the wife of the IOC president is hugging the cox of the British crew."
8. Soccer commentator: "Julian Dicks is everywhere. It's like they've got eleven Dicks on the field."
9. Tennis commentator: "One of the reasons Andy is playing so well is that, before the final round, his wife takes out his balls and kisses them... Oh my God, what have I just said?"

Wikipedia Corrects Encyclopedia Britannica

An interesting Slashdot capturing some of the places where Wikipedia is correcting Encyclopedia Britannica. Among
the wrong information collected on this page are the name at birth of Bill
Clinton and the definition of the NP problems in mathematics.

Google base

I've been playing with google base for some stuff at work, it's a neat hosted search indexing thingy. I just added a link to our pad in Vermont. Now when someone goes to Google Base and I think what was formerly called Froogle and they search for vacation rentals it shows up.
Google has lots of cool offerings to help people find services and fun stuff like that. Cherith, Lonne, and I setup a page for Bailey Appraisal Services the other weekend and got it listed on Google Listings/Maps. Very neat.

23 employees reaching millions of users

This chart was just amazing. Craigslist only has 23 employees. Sure, they are part of eBay, so maybe they get some support from them. But still 23 employees is just amazing given the number of page views they get. Especially when you consider the other sites in the list.
